The Past Doesn’t Have to Define You

How It Works

Together we will process traumatic memories and negative beliefs about yourself so you feel less anxious, more grounded, and at ease.

We will address feelings of shame and insecurity so you can build self-confidence and feel more resilient and self-assured.

By healing trauma through EMDR, you will be able to focus on the present moment, connect more deeply with yourself and others, and finally feel “good enough.”

EMDR therapy allows you to move from “survival mode,” which keeps you stuck in the past, into thriving and living an authentic, joyful life.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. It is an evidence-based treatment for trauma and is effective in treating PTSD, anxiety, depression, and many other challenges.

  • EMDR utilizes bi-lateral stimulation such as tapping your body or watching a light move alternately from right to left. This bi-lateral stimulation allows your brain to begin reprocessing traumatic memories that are contributing to negative emotions and symptoms.

EMDR allows you to engage in the brain’s natural healing process.

  • It depends on the trauma you have experienced. We’ll have a better idea after completing the intake.

On average, 8-12 sessions are recommended for a single incident. However, if you experienced multiple incidents or they were ongoing (complex trauma), this requires longer treatment.

Many clients report some relief of symptoms after a few sessions.

  • EMDR is different from traditional “talk therapy” and includes minimal verbal processing.

If you have tried therapy before but find there are certain memories, beliefs, or feelings that seem “stuck,” EMDR can be effective in resolving those symptoms.

In EMDR therapy your brain is doing the healing work while I guide and support you through the process. EMDR has a standard protocol and I will follow specific steps to facilitate the reprocessing.
