Anxiety and EMDR Therapy in Los Angeles

You’re ready to begin experiencing life fully

On paper you seem to have it all figured out - you have a successful career, busy social calendar, and others wonder how you “do it all” so easily.

Deep down, your mind is constantly racing with anxious thoughts and self doubt- fears of being a failure, people finding out you are a “fraud” and beating yourself up when you don’t meet your own impossibly high standards. You feel lonely and disconnected.

Are you tired of the never ending to-do list and never feeling good enough? Wondering if you will ever be able to “get out of your head and start living?”

You’ve come to the right place.

Helping you feel more calm, confident, and connected

Hi, I’m Samira (she/her). I’m a native New Yorker (and now Los Angeles transplant) as well as a first generation American of Arab descent. I understand the unique challenges of “never quite fitting in” or feeling “lost” as you explore cultural identity and navigate different worlds.

As a therapist, I strive to be warm, curious, and compassionate in our sessions. I value authenticity and as a therapist this means I show up as a human for you. I am not the type of therapist that sits silently nodding, I’m actively engaged in our sessions and often bring humor in when appropriate. My style is collaborative so while I use specific approaches, therapy sessions are individualized to you. I continually explore how our work together is going and make sure we are moving towards your goals.

The therapy relationship is unique and I believe in the healing power of being deeply known, seen, and understood by another person.

What therapy with me looks like

You will have a non-judgemental space to explore and process feelings in order to uncover patterns that keep you stuck.

You will be able to “take off the mask” that you wear for others and “let down your armor” so your feelings don’t build up and later overwhelm you.

You will have the opportunity to be fully “seen” and understood in a way that can increase insight, confidence and self acceptance.

You will explore how past experiences may be contributing to your pain now and we will work together to process trauma that is holding you back.

We will explore unhelpful patterns and beliefs that impact relationships, work, and how you view yourself.

You will develop tools and skills to help you find relief from your most distressing symptoms.

Guiding Principles

  • Trauma Informed

Trauma, whether it may be childhood neglect or living through a global pandemic, is often at the root of anxiety.

I utilize trauma informed approaches such as EMDR and IFS to help clients heal.

  • Social Justice

As a social worker, I will explore how systemic oppression may contribute to the pain you are experiencing.

I value inclusivity and utilize an anti-oppressive lens.

  • Relational

Research shows that the quality of the client-therapist relationship is the main driver of change and healing.

I prioritize creating a safe space where you can be truly “seen,” understood, and accepted.
